Cutting weight for the first time

GOT THIS QUESTION ABOUT WEIGHT TODAY, it's something I get often, so decided to share, let's talk about it, feel free to join the conversation:

Hi Felipe, I will be competing in the IBJJF world's at rooster weight. This is the first time I'll be cutting to rooster and I'm curious on how much you you walk at and how to cut for the weight on the matt. I'm walking at 62kg. Thanks a lot!

Re: Cutting weight for the first time

Hello,

Im right now around 60kgs and already dieting hard...but you should not take this as base to you, since it depends on many factors such as  fat % and others.
Have you talked to a nutritionist yet?

Re: Cutting weight for the first time

"My brother and I are both dieting, we have spoken to a nutritionist and have our meal plans. I already lost 5lbs in one week. As we were told that the last 2kg's lost will be water, judging by our frames, we are lean. Just having a idea how you cut would be really great and information I can use in the future.

Thanks so much bro"

Re: Cutting weight for the first time

I like to get there cutting in the most 1kg of water, but it has happen before that I have to cut more. 2kgs and up is not easy and you can feel weak during the fight, but its not the end of the world and a lot of people do. I recomend, if possible, to try to get there in the most 1 kg over :)
Let me know how it goes

"Thanks a lot brother, all the best.

If we bump into each other at the words I'll definitely say hi."
