Re: Felipe, can you review my fight?

  • I dont know if I have showed, but I have been doing  a very effective thing to reach have guard when someone is holding like the guy was holding you in this beginning
  • 47''good opportunity you lost to control him, but i dont really consider a mistake, he scramble and managed to reset
  • 2'40''when he start to put foot on biceps, i think was a bad decision to stay low, I think I would have stand up to get ready of this control
  • 2'45''insisting on the grip of the collar got you in to the omoplata...
  • you reaction to defend the omoplata was good, but the guy reset fast and got the sweep, maybe it's a strong position of his (?)
  • 3'50''you excepted the mount without putting a fight, it looked...
  • got out good...4'38''I think I would have try to control his right leg and get in to X
  • good half attempt on your right side, but he end up going to your left side, maybe you not as confortable on that side? he end up getting underhook control, I liked how you recovered...but he is managing to put you defensive and you are behind on points
  • 6'55''maybe another chance to get X by holding his left foot that is posting there (?)

It wasn't a bad fight, could have been diferent if when you were passing you had managed to control better some opportunities you had, but I dont really see as a mistake. If I had to call something a mistake, I would say hanging on that lapel for too long, cause it lead you to the omoplata. But  the worse thing I think was getting mount to "easy", cause by the time you recovered, the time was short and he wasn't trying much, cause he was ahead on points.
Wasn't a bad fight, you did good.

Re: Felipe, can you review my fight?

Hi Felipe I was competing today and got two golds but in this fight I lost. I feel I made some silly mistakes especially getting rolled from side control but hopefully if you have the time you could review my fight and give me tips, I would greatly appreciate it :)

Unfortunately the fight was only recorded from when I was on top half guard and not the start.

Re: Felipe, can you review my fight?

  • You pass was good, looked like you had perfect control, maybe your mistake was to try the mount when he tried to flip you over, since your right arm was trap, maybe should have focus on stay low with the hip
  • I think you spend too much time on close guard, without been trying any effective technique, I suggest you try this technique here: https://brazilianblackbelt.com/closed-guard-mermaid-sweep Since I learned it has been working tremendously for me, very high percentage.
  • You took too long to open and try from there, You looked better technically.
  • At 2'05''you pushed his head to the right, that was not good, you should have used your right hand to push him to your left (his right) keeping him in front of you. Luckly you manage to recover
  • 2'20''he passe he did was lame. Maybe you were already tired?
  • 2'50'Was heel hook alowed? I dont like it, I think it's too dangerous...anyway, if it was, you should have looked the triangle, hide your left foot under his leg, position your upper body to your right, toward his leg and aplyed the pressure.
Hope it helped a little. Sorry for the delay to answer, I was travelling and with short access to internet! Keep in touch
