Professor Ricardo De La Riva started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1980 under a black belt master Carlson Gracie. He had a great performance in competitions and won with several BJJ legends that were previously unbeatable. De La Riva's most outstanding performance took place in 1986 during the Copa Cantão. He is well known across the globe for his trademark "De la Riva" Guard position. In addition, he trained many great athletes of BJJ and MMA.
