Miyao Bros: We Don’t Fight For Medals

Berimbolo

There are few people who divide opinion in jiu-jitsu more than the Miyao brothers. The black belt twins – famous for their berimbolos but also their long list of achievements — are two of the toughest and most active competitors on the competition circuit.

These guys are incredibly focused — they live and breathe jiu-jitsu – and their meteoric rise in the sport has been matched by few others. It’s difficult to get them to open up about their jiu-jitsu because they’d rather be rolling than talking!

Modern BJJ: Lapel guard, de la Riva & 5050

Who is responsible for the evolution of jiu-jitsu?

Who is responsible for the evolution of jiu-jitsu? The answer is the new generation of grapplers, of which Osvaldo ‘Queixeinho’ Moizinho is a member.

A competitor and teacher at Caio Terra’s gym in San Jose, California, Queixinho is one of the young black belts driving the game forward. He’s known for using techniques that combine elements of de la riva guard with lapel control, inverting, leg attacks and more.

This is modern Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and if you want see how the art is developing then go ahead and watch.
